The Frascati Console draws on the design philosophy that descended upon Europe when the French Revolution ended the reign of Louis XVI. The grand ateliers that produced the meubles de luxe suddenly disappeared, and the great craftsmen of the time discarded sumptuous regality. They reduced scale and material ostentation to emphasize more basic and elemental forms. We reinterpreted a northern Italian console to maintain the essence of the early Directoire style, while carefully balancing austerity and capriciousness. It epitomizes the way we live today.
