Our History

In 1978, against the backdrop of a Beaux Arts mansion in Memphis, TN, an enthusiastic, brilliant young man founded a unique company that would become known worldwide for bespoke craftsmanship and sophisticated design.

Joe Niermann had an undaunting passion for fine art, antiques, superior design and expert craftsmanship.  With his wife Eleanor McKay their beloved young daughters, Eleanor and Claire, Niermann Weeks was born.

A family effort from its inception, all hands were on deck.

Eleanor McKay, a trailblazer in her own right, worked as an archivist for the Mississippi Valley Collection at Memphis State University while Joe renovated their home and collaborated with the local design community.  Evenings were filled with restoration projects and robust design discussions which oftentimes extended late into the night.

Over the last 40 years, Niermann Weeks has come to represent the gold standard in the design and fabrication of lighting, furniture and accessories, melding classic elements with sleek modern design.
